What to wear at the thrift store

Hey Thrift Buddies!

It is so important to wear the right clothes to the thrift store so that your trip goes smoothly. I thought I would share with you guys what I think are the best things to wear to the thrift store.

1) Dresses & Skirts

This dress is one of my favorites. It's simple and pretty.

Love these skirts- I actually got the floral one from Goodwill

Dresses and Skirts are some of the best things to wear because they are usually very comfortable and when you are thrifting, you wanna be comfortable! They are also easy to take off which is helpful when you are trying on clothes.

2) Leggings

Simple comfy leggings with a cute gray shirt

Leggings are also very comfortable and easy to take off! I like to pair mine with an over-sized shirt or sweater for a perfect thrifting outfit.

3) Simple Shoes

These shoes are perfect. The quilted black slip-on sneakers are comfortable and the black booties are cute and easy to take off because of a side zipper.

These are probably my favorite shoes (I got them from a yard sale for $2), but they take forever to put on and take off, due to the laces. So when I'm thrifting I leave them at home.

What you wear on your feet when thrifting is very important! This is not the time to show off your new 4 inch heals or knee high lace up boots. You will want to wear shoes that are comfortable to walk around in, since you’ll be standing most of the time. Also, you want to be able to take them off easily for trying on pants and other shoes

Make sure you wear a comfortable and simple outfit to the thrift store, so that you can have an awesome time.

Also, just because you are going to the thrift store, doesn't mean you can't look cute! So throw on a pretty dress and some leather booties and you are good to go!

Goodwill Withdrawal

Hey Thrift Buddies!

I have not been to a thrift store in soooo many weeks! I think I am going through Goodwill withdrawal. I miss sifting through colorful racks of old worn clothing. I miss trying on crazy dresses from the 80's. I miss finding the perfect "ugly" sweater to keep me warm on a chilly day.

Oh the Thrift Store!

Right now I should be studying for my next anatomy test instead of dreaming about Goodwill...

Good O'l Goodwill

Aren't those floral patterns gorgeous!

Anyway, I hop you get a chance this week to sneak away and go thrifting.

Thrift Tips- How To Make a Good List

 Hey Thrift Buddies!

Making a list before you go to the thrift store is soooo important! It helps to keep you focused and allows you to get the best out of the thrift store. I wanted to share with you guys 5 tips on how to make a good list for your next thrift store adventure!

1) Write it Down
I know this one seems obvious, but seriously, I can’t tell you how many times I have made a list in my head, walked into the thrift store, and forgotten everything I wanted to look for. So write it down! Whether on paper, on your phone, or on your hand, having a list to guide you will help a lot.

2) Keep it Simple
If you write down that you want a lime green sweater with unicorns and rainbows on it, you might be a little disappointed when you don’t find it. Keeping your list vague is better and keeps the search open ended, for example if you say that you want to find a warm chunky sweater preferably in green, you’re more likely to find results and be happy.

3) Keep it to about 10 things
If you’re looking for some many things at a time you might get overwhelmed, so focus on searching for a couple of items at a time.

4) Leave room for chance
One of the best parts of going to the thrift store is finding an amazing piece of clothing or trinket that you never even knew existed! If you find a beautiful necklace that you've fallen in love with and is reasonably priced, I would say get it, even if it's not on your list, Now don’t go overboard and buy every cool thing you see, but just remember the list isn't final.

5) Don't give up
If you don’t find something on your list the first time you look, don’t give up! Keep this item on your list, or at least in the back of your mind, so that when you go to the thrift store again you can look for it. I really really want a vintage sunflower dress, but every time I look in the dress section I never see the bright yellow floral pattern. I don’t give up or get dismayed. I just keep the sunflower dress on my list, so that one day when I stumble upon one I will remember to get it.

I wrote about some other items currently on my thrift list in this blog post.

Those are my tips! Take some time to sit down and make your own thrift store list.

Hope these help you out!
